Ruddle Merz has brought in the ex City of London Valuation Office's Sarah Davey to head up a new London office.

Ruddle Merz work with around 1300 clients nationwide across a range of sectors, including industrial, office, leisure, and healthcare and have saved clients over £62m on business rates since 2005.

Sarah is a Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years experience and brings a range of specialist property taxation skills, together with valuation, compulsory purchase and compensation expertise.

Tony Ruddle, Chief Executive commented; "Investing in a new City office is a key part of our strategic development and we are delighted that someone with Sarah's credentials will be heading up the team.  At a time when business overheads are being monitored ever more closely, our business rating service, which looks to save money on business rates, is in great demand and is expected to continue to be a growth sector long term.  Our ambition has been to open a new London office but the key was to find the right candidate to launch and develop it building on our existing business" 

Over the past 17 years Sarah has practised at a senior level in the City and London Boroughs, leading the defence of Revaluations from 1990 onwards. Attuned to current law and practice and future developments likely to affect business rates, she will advise on positive strategies to reduce risk and liability, as well as negotiating all classes of appeals and handling expert work at Local Valuation Court and Lands Tribunal.

She commented on her appointment; "The opportunity to start-up Ruddle Merz's new office is a fantastic prospect, and I will be growing the business offering first class expertise and quality customer service.  My aim is to bring additional expertise into the company and develop the business over the coming year."

Sarah also works, on a voluntary basis, on the board of Chatham Maritime Trust, tasked with managing the common estate of one of Government's flagship brownfield regeneration schemes.
